The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program welcomes applications from professionals and academics in all disciplines to conduct research and/or teach at the university level in more than 125 countries. STEM opportunities are also available to students.

In this webinar moderated by Dr. David A. Crespy, attendees will learn about the support available for STEM Fulbright applicants. Three University of Missouri at Columbia, MIZZOU, STEM faculty members will share their experiences as Fulbright recipients. The session will conclude with a Q&A.

Dr. Adam Whaley-Connell, Medicine
Dr. Adam Whaley-Connell, Medicine (2021 Fulbright to Finland)

Dr Whaley-Connell is a Professor of Medicine in the School of Medicine, Department of Medicine and Division of Nephrology and Hypertension as well as the Associate Chief of Staff for Research at the Truman VA. His background as a clinical nephrologist with research training in vascular biology led him to this Fulbright opportunity as the Saastamoinen Distinguished Chair in Health Sciences at the University of Eastern Finland 2020-22.

Dr. Kenneth MacLeod, Geological Sciences
Dr. Kenneth MacLeod, Geological Sciences (2023 Fulbright to U.K.)

Dr. MacLeod is a professor of Geological Sciences and has been at MU since 1999. He is a paleontologist who works on past greenhouse climates and mass extinctions. He also directs the geology departments stable isotope lab. He is currently on a 6-month Fulbright at the University of Birmingham.

Dr. Rocío Rivera, Animal Sciences

Dr. Rocío Rivera, Animal Sciences (2019/20 Fulbright to Spain)

Dr. Rivera is a Professor in the Division if Animal Sciences; her lab’s research aims to characterize the epigenetic mechanisms involved in abnormal embryonic and fetal development in mammals. As a Fulbright Senior Scholar, Dr Rivera collaborated with the faculty of the Department of Physiology in the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Murcia, Spain and was the embedded Fulbright visiting scientist to the Master degree in Biology and Technology of Reproduction Program.

Dr. David A. Crespy, Fulbright liasion MU, 2023 Fulbright to Greece.
Moderator: Dr. David A. Crespy is the Fulbright liaison at MU and a 2023 Fulbright to Greece from where he will moderate in this event.

Dr. Crespy is professor of playwriting, acting, dramatic literature at the University of Missouri at Columbia, and is founder and co-director of MU’s Writing for Performance program (recipient of the 2017 KCACTF Gold Medallion). He is the Artistic Director of MU’s Missouri Playwrights Workshop, and president of the Edward Albee Society. David’s plays have been developed and produced at theatres across the US including the Cherry Lane Theatre, River Union Stage, NJ Dramatists, Playwrights Theatre of NJ, Nebraska Repertory Theatre, Primary Stages, The Cherry Lane Theatre, The Playwrights Center, HB Playwrights Foundation, Austin Melodrama, Jewish Repertory Theatre, Stages St. Louis, First Run Theatre (St. Louis), and Creative Theatre Unlimited.
