The Fulbright Association will award Bono, the lead sing of U2, the 2021 J. William Fulbright Prize for International Understanding. The ceremony will take place in Washington, D.C. on March 31, 2022, at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. Event details are available here.

Bono is the co-founder of ONEĀ andĀ (RED), sister organizations dedicated to the fight against extreme poverty, AIDS and other crises impacting the developing world, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. The musician, activist, and humanitarian is being recognized for his commitment to seeking justice by fighting to end extreme poverty, tackle global health crises, and spur economic development in the poorest parts of the planet.
